Waking Up is Hard to Do

If these 5 Minnesota nurse-anesthetists can pass gas as well as they can sing, I want my next surgery in their hospital.

Good job guys!

Unknown said...

LOVE IT! I'm for sure going to crack up next time I go down to the OR! Thanks guys!

What Fun!! Certainly has a nurses touch. Many years ago a patient told me, "Life is much to precious to be taken too seriously." How true.

Tricia P. said...

This is wonderful. They all seem so serious when you go into surgery. It's great that they showed that they really have such great sense of humors.

Nancy Baggin Gordon said...

Wow - this was fantastic!!!! I've been out of the O.R. for several years now but truly appreciated this! Good for those guys to keep a sense of humor - and they DO have very nice voices!!!!!

Nancy G - old scrub nurse

Solid!
Reminiscent of the fun "old days" of doing anesthesia before PC tight A's slipped into the OR's of the world.
Thanks for a gut-busting laugh, nice to see the tradition continues!

AWESOME!!!!!!! Anesthesia's Got Talent!

Fantastic! From a Veterinary Radiologist who is nursing his wife after foot surgery. Our anesthesia crew had a similar sense of humor.

Cutie pies - all of them. g

Very cute ditty. I can attest to the panic of frantically being unable to breathe when coming out surgery too early.

Jane said...

I so want to work with these guys. Great voice, cute too.

Unknown said...

Awesome. your guys did a wonderful job, So cute, and wonderful singing. I am a nuse and find this to be so fun. Keep on smiling!!!

Unknown said...

What a great change of pace, those were really good songs and times, thank you

Unknown said...

Oh what a great way to go to sleep! Keep up the humor in such a relaxing manner.

Bev said...

This is just great! Kudos to these guys for adding a little humor to a scary time for patients. I loved this.

Unknown said...

Fabulous. Wish you would have sung that song to Michael Jackson's cardiologist. We wake people up. Putting them to sleep is the easy part. Loved the "tube" and "laryngospasm". Had a friend in Minnesota who invented the Bair Hugger. With aloha, from Hawaii. LHD Retired Anesthesiologist

Love it. I try to imagine our anethesiologists or even better our pulmonary docs doing this. You guys are so good, and make me laugh. Just sorry I missed you at FOCUS.

Gas passers, Dip drippers, great sense of humor, and you can sing too. What more could a patient (or scrub team) ask for? Great job, guys!

Neil Sedaka would be very pleased if he ever saw this video. He actually recorded a children's album that includes Waking Up Is Hard To Do but it's about kids getting out of bed.

Ann said...

LOL perfect timing for me to see this. A friend forwarded me the link and I am going to have Surgery on Friday and I just know I am going to crack up now!

Unknown said...

Very good!! Lost a tooth from a surgery wish I had you! Sending to my 2 nieces by marriage and 2 nephews all dr. like you. They're in Az and NV.

Nancy said...

This was so cool. In these days when everything is SO serious, it was nice to see some people that still know that life can be a lot of fun. Not to mention, you guys were good.

Country Girl said...

This was the funniest thing I have ever seen or heard! What talented doctors and sooooo cute too! Now that is the kind of doctor I would like to put me out during surgery!!

Unknown said...

This was great!!!! I laughed and luaghed until my sides hurt.

Unknown said...

As a former PACU nurse I can remember the OR having great accoustics! All that tile I guess. We used to have a good time but things kinda chanaged a few years ago, as David the old gas passer said.

lv2puppies said...

Quick!!! Someone out there give these doctors a contract! I think they've only tapped one tiny tip of their talented iceberg. There's lots of serious material out there that these fellows could bring to us in comical song but at the same time with real class, intelligence and dignity. You love them because they are not profane! Besides being smart and sassy, how cute are these singing doctors?

Sandie said...

Where were these guys in april when i had my hystorectomy??

Unknown said...

Love it, Love It, Love it!!! Maybe you should consider soothing your patients with song BEFORE you begin your craft!. At least they'll go under with a smile!!

Great Job!

Unknown said...

Good video; nice to hear something light-hearted in the medical department of life once in awhile!

(for the person who subtitled the video) you might like to correct the spelling of breathe where it says "breath."

mtmroberts said...

I could not agree more with what myArizona said: "This was so cool. In these days when everything is SO serious, it was nice to see some people that still know that life can be a lot of fun. Not to mention, you guys were good."

Also, I completely appreciate what lv2puppies said....yes these guys are good, and there is DEFINITELY a market for this kind of stuff!!

Thank you, looking forward for more music from ya'll!

Dotty J. said...

Absolutely! These charmers should try out for America has Talent, because they sure do. Such a nice try from the stuffy, bored type docs who say "count backwards" or "Think of your dream vacation" and that is that.

Great guys, cute all of them!

I have heard of African OR nurses who sing in harmony while the patient is being operated on. Apparently the outcome is so much better—fewer traumas, less stress and faster healing etc. on patients that I wonder if there has been any studies done on this. Great singing fellas, you can put me out anytime.

Wow...I'm an old blood bank specialist and spent many hours in open heart surgery (notice the avatar name). I almost p***ed my pants when I saw this. These guys rock!! Where can I buy the CD ???

Am I the only skeptic who viewed this too-good-to-be-true video? As virtually all of you take this at face value, I think it's time to question that this must be SOME hospital to host this level of musical talent. Really! What hospital do they work at? I would like some proof that this video is what it really purport to be: just "regular guy" anesthesiologists who happen to have glorious voices...hmmm.

OnTheMove said...

This was utterly fantastic.. the guys that put us out are really clever, very witty and darn good songsters too. Way to go fellas!

Thank you Svenskaflicka1 for pointing out that these are NURSE ANESTHETISTS. So many people don't know the difference, which is sad. Having been a CRNA for 30 years, I am aware of the Laryngospasms and have their CDs, which are very good. But, like CRNAs, they are far too un-appreciated for the quality of work they do.

Beautiful singing, love the harmonies. This is one way to stay balanced in a stressful job.

Maybe the world at large does not appreciate the work of anesthesiologists enough. Waking up is very important, and I depend on you! It's disconcerting to be seen as a 'job'.

I also sing, and thanks to you & my surgical team, I still can. Keep on singing--and remember all the good work you do!

I've just had seven surgeries in fourteen months and wish that this super-talented group had been singing away my pre-surgery terrors. Awesome, powerful and hysterically funny!

Most excellent rendition guys.....as an Emergency Physician for over 28 years I listened to lots of songs in my head during the most dire of circumstances....just to maintain my sanity but hearing y'all sing your re-written version of that great song was timeless. Take care and keep on passin' that heavenly gas!!!

All I can say is . . . HILARIOUS! Can't say I can relate personally, as the last (and ONLY time) I was ever under anesthetics was when I was 3 years old and had my tonsils out. (I'm now 58). Knock on wood! <<>>

I just have to correct a few of you. The Laryngospasms are a group of NURSE Anesthetists. They have 2 CDs out and you can get them on their website. Not only are the cute and can sing, but they are some really great guys and very respected nurse anesthetists!

You must of practice a lot to sound so effortless and professional. Very uplifting. To bad, I do not need surgery.

Had a triple hernia op at Tweed Heads OZ. My surname is Amour and just as I was recovering all I could here was all the Hospital staff singing My Chereie Amour and good with it too!
What a great way to come out of surgery!

You guys, as my girls would say....are the BOMB! I look forward to viewing many more of your anesthesia videos.....Why don't you travel down to Texas and sing us a country "yeehaw" song?.....
